Philippians 1:6 – Think Forever Today

“I am sure of this, that he who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

In this short verse, Paul gives two wildly encouraging points. First, God will never give up on you, as long as the world endures. He is the author of faith who rescued you out of the hopelessness of sin. He has invited you to participate in His eternal life, and that is an invitation that will not be rescinded under any circumstances. That which God holds can never be taken away, and He holds you tightly as His child.

Second, you will never be perfect as long as the world endures. Now, while this may seem at first to be disheartening, it highlights God’s eternal commitment to us even though we can never achieve His standards on this side of heaven. How amazing is this? Yes, He charges us to grow, and yes, he calls us to detest our sin, but He promises to continue His good work in us even when we are riddled with shortcomings.

Believer, our God is faithful. He will never let you go.

Even now, He is preparing you for eternity at His side.

He walks every step of this life with us, encouraging, instructing, and correcting us by His spirit so we look more and more like our Savior. And one day, the day of Christ Jesus, He will finish that work.
